After a full week of preschool and therapy we had an equally full weekend. Thursday evening was open house at Maddie's school, so we got to explore the life and times of a 4 year old class. Maddie and her friend Zach sang the days of the week song and showed the family what goes on when we drop her off. (We aren't allowed to watch or participate in her class.) We had a lot of fun trying to catch butterflies floating up from an elephant's trunk, chasing Skyler around the room, reading her favorite books, and talking with her teacher, Miss H.

Friday there was no school for Maddie so we kept Skyler out too. We decided to take a walk on the beach from Grover to Pismo. We also took Penny, to try to get her out more. She did great. That night Skyler's school/New Life church was having a puppet show so we decided to see how the kids would do. That was the first thing like that we have taken them to because we finally feel Maddie is in a place where she can sit still and attend to what is being presented on the stage. About half way through Skyler was laughing so hard and LOUD that Mark took him to the back, then finally outside. Maddie did such a terrific job of sitting still, clapping at the appropriate times, and overall really enjoyed it. I was so proud of her, she was behaving like a typical 4 year old. Mark, however, did not have a good time outside with Skyler. He can certainly be hard to corral when he wants to go one way and mom or dad want to go another.

Saturday morning we were planning on walking the Bob Jones trail in Avila, but it was super crowded, so Mark suggested Morro Bay. On the way there, I remember my friend mentioning Montano De Oro State Park earlier in the week and I suggested we try going there (it's a bit closer). We got out there and it was so nice. The trails all say no dogs, but you can take a leashed dog on the beach. So, Penny was happy. Also, there is a stream that flows into the ocean that the kids enjoyed floating "boats" down. We definitely need to go back on a week day and pack a lunch so we can spend more time. Mark has declared it one of his favorite spots on the central coast.

Sunday has been nice and uneventful. Church this morning for Mark, Skyler and me, and Maddie got to hang out with my mom. We are catching up on laundry and getting ready for a full week of school and fun activities in the afternoons.
